What to do if my eero is showing a red light?

Updated on 13 Mar, 2025

A red light on your eero indicates that your device is offline. Let's work through some steps to resolve this issue before reaching out to [email protected]

Identifying the Device

  • Gateway eero: This is the initial eero device you set up, connected to your Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
  • Additional eero Devices: These are any other eero units that extend your Wi-Fi signal.

Troubleshooting the Gateway eero

Check the Power:

  • Ensure your ONT is plugged in, switched on, and the lights are functioning.

Verify the Ethernet Connection:

  • Confirm that your gateway eero and ONT are connected via Ethernet, with the cable securely plugged into both devices.

Power Cycle Your eero and ONT:

  • Unplug your eero and ONT from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug them back in and allow approximately 2 minutes for them to fully reboot.

If the red light persists after these steps, please reach out to [email protected] for further assistance.

Troubleshooting Additional eero Devices

Power Cycle the eero:

  • Unplug the additional eero from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and allow approximately 2 minutes for it to reboot.

Remove and Re-add the Device:

  • Open the eero app.
  • Navigate to the device settings.
  • Remove the problematic eero device.
  • Follow the in-app instructions to re-add the device to your network.

If the red light remains after these steps, please contact [email protected] for further assistance.
